The BBC’s Marketing, Communication & Audiences department wanted to explore the possibilities of using social media to reach new audiences.

They asked me (working with Six to Start) to write and produce a short Alternate Reality Game that would not only demonstrate the principles of using different media to tell a single story, but would also educate several hundred MC&A staff about how people use new media these days.

It was a simple story that used blogs, Twitter, Facebook, online video, email, real mail, phone messages and even the BBC’s in-house magazine, Ariel.
