Print is becoming less of a passive medium as it becomes increasingly personalised and interactive. I’ve explored the possibilities of personalisation at Wonderbly, developing a couple of prototype ideas for children’s stories.
I also write for books and magazines. As you might expect from me, the range of subjects tends to be very varied, from Shakespeare and advertising in Bard & Co (for The Globe Theatre) to writing for games in The Author.
On the fiction side, I’ve also written an Arabian Nights-style tale for From Here to Here, as part of TfL’s Platform for Art scheme; and the odd award-winning short story such as ‘Theft of a Good Man,’ which won the John Gardner Memorial Prize for Fiction in New York.
At the end of Balance of Powers, we produced a rather handsome hardback version of the story too. There’s still something satisfying about seeing a book on a shelf.
